We could skimp on dodgeballs and get the puffy, foam filled ones but where is the fun in that? At Deeper we provide lots of items for games, while always being certain what we buy will be used again and again. The formula we stick to is have the most fun for the least amount of money possible. We will use money you give us sporadically to buy cards, small board games, or items like dodgeballs to make fun games that engage students and build community in and outside of High Schools.
As you might imagine insuring a large group of students, leaders, and staff can get pretty pricey. We don’t cut corners on making sure our folks are protected. The policy we’re getting will make sure a window gets replaced when its hit with one of the good dodgeballs.
The magic of the Deeper Mission is the vetting, recruiting, and caring for the highest quality volunteers, and that is only possible when you have staff members who see this mission as a calling and a career. As of right now we have one full time staff member and will only expand as absolutely necessary in order to steward our resources to the best of our ability.
Our volunteer leaders are the best in the business and we want to treat them that way. We do two annual retreats with volunteers to get everyone on the same page, build community, and have fun! Walking with students can be an incredible joy, but it can be pretty heavy sometimes as well. The money you give helps us prevent burnout in our volunteers and keep them in the lives of students for the long haul.
Nothing brings people together like a meal. A huge part of Jesus’s ministry revolved around sharing food, and so does ours! As part of our philosophy of stewardship, we try to get a lot of the food and snacks we use donated to us, but despite that we still find ourselves buying a lot of pizzas. Money you donate helps keep our students fed… sometimes a daunting task!
